Bourne End Bucks Newsfeed
|
Burnend (first recorded 1236) "End of the Stream" is where the Wye flows into the Thames. Nestling in the Chilterns alongside the river, the village has been the home of papermakers, lacemakers and brickmakers. Today Bourne End is a thriving village close to London and even closer to the open countryside of the Chiltern Hills in central southern England.
This site is provided by Bourne End Community Association as a service to people who work and live in Bourne End. The Community Association is also responsible for provision and management of the Bourne End Community Centre.

View up Amersham Hill - all the cars have been abandoned, along with the lorries and buses
Amersham Hill - when this photo was taken there was absolute silence notice anything unusual? (see below for answer)
Sledging down Amersham Hill and almost no cars in sight
View down Amersham Hill that will not have changed much in 100 years (except for the central reservation, the keep left sign, the 30mph speed limit, the electric street lamps and the refuse bins for collection!!!)
The usual aspect of photo two is that the red, amber and green traffic lights are all on at the same time. In fact the lights change depending on the traffic motion and as there wasn't any they were doing a complete cycle of colours every few seconds. |
