A fifth application has been submitted by Tesco for an Express store at the Old Police House. The previous application was withdrawn and this new plan appears to be based on the third application submitted in 2008 which was refused by Wycombe District Council's planning department. The reasons for refusal in 2008 highlighted the fact that plans had already been approved for a supermarket development on the Parade Court site and there was insufficient expenditure capacity for a further convenience store.
Another reason for refusal on the 2008 application was the impact on the vitality and viability of the village centre with its independent outlets; sadly some might close. The new planning application 10/06283/FUL proposes a two and a half storey development with the ground floor being for retail purposes (Tesco Express) and then 2 x 2 bed and 2 x 1 bed flats above.

Now boarded up the old police house stands outside
the retail area of this part of The Parade
Although this application is very similar to the 2008 application it is important that local people should comment on this current plan. Your views on this application should be sent to: Jenny Ion, Planning Officer, Wycombe District Council, Queen Victoria Road, High Wycombe, Bucks HP11 1BB. You can also comment on-line at Wycombe District Council's planning website. If you view the application on-line you can see all the details of the application together with representations made by local businesses and residents.
It is a good idea to send copies of letters to your local district councillors
