Target magazine August 2016 front cover thumbnail“Keep Bourne End Green” is the front-page message as WDC propose development on acres of Green Belt land in the village. It is a story likely to fill many more pages as the various processes of the New Local Plan continue over the months and probably years.

Sad news also that Lloyds Bank, a focal point since the end of the 1920s, will close in early October but for now The Black Lion public house in Well End keeps that role and adds ‘Asset of Community Value’ to its description thanks to the work of their newly established Friends Group.

Marina Life on page 6 gives you all the news from down there while Bet Luckett celebrates 100 years on page 7. On page 12 there’s news of a recently formed group of Simply Walk getting you all up on your feet and leaving the library on a Wednesday morning at 10.30am.

On page 28 there’s a programme for the Wooburn Festival which starts at the end of September along with a booking form. Zac Hussain at Bourne End Post Office is the feature for Local Lives and, at long last, the baby trout in St Paul’s School were given permission to swim free in the River Wye.

Lots more, posters for events, stories and Bob Doughty features in ‘Past Times’ on page 34. His mother Kath was a great supporter of the Day Centre which now has a new garden – that’s featured on page 25 of the latest issue.
