Thirty local groups were keen to be part of the Community Showcase on Thursday March 14. They filled the Community Centre’s two halls and even allowed anyone interested to have a go at indoor bowling. There was a lovely atmosphere among the groups and Myra Hurley, Hon Secretary of the Community Association, said “We were delighted to see so many groups keen to talk about what they did.” |

Five Star Swing makes its annual return to the Community Centre to provide an evening of swinging music with an all-new show. On Sunday April 14 band leader Chris Smith will tap his feet, say “one, two” and another show will be underway. Make sure you book your tickets to be part of the swinging scene. |

At Kongs Restaurant in Bourne End the Chinese New Year means something special for a large group of local people. In the week before the Chinese celebration the restaurant organises a lunch and invites up to 80 elderly villagers to enjoy a special occasion.
Invitations go to residents in Alfred Court, Orchard House, clients using the Day Centre and senior citizens on the register of Wye Valley Volunteers. There is a rota system to ensure that different people are invited each year. Where necessary transport is provided for those with mobility problems. |

Back to days of old for the 2013 panto with brave knights and lovely maidens. Be very aware of the supernatural skills of Morgan le Fay, look out for the witches and be astounded by Merlin and Son. As usual there’s a brave hero and a lovely heroine whose path of true love is fraught with problems. You will laugh with Laughalot and love the amorous bear called – Teddy. It’s all there in Camelot – the panto. |
