Bourne End photo Burnend (first recorded 1236) "End of the Stream" is where the Wye flows into the Thames. Nestling in the Chilterns alongside the river, the village has been the home of papermakers, lacemakers and brickmakers. Today Bourne End is a thriving village close to London and even closer to the open countryside of the Chiltern Hills in central southern England.

Bourne End Concert Orchestra - thumbnail

The 2009 Bourne End classical concert is full of contrasts. The exuberance of a Johann Strauss waltz is followed by the Debussy’s haunting description of a young deer enjoying a summer afternoon in the forest. The majesty of the well-known overture to Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser is set alongside Josef Suk’s romantic melodies telling of the love between a young Prince and Princess in a Czech fairy tale.
