Charity Lunch at Kongs
Written by Barrie Penfold

Kongs owner Win TangIn the middle of January charity took over all the seats in Kongs Restaurant on The Parade for a special lunch. The meal was a generous gift from the proprietor Wing Tang and restaurant manager Barry Kwok. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful four course traditional Chinese meal which has become an annual event at the restaurant.

Wing Tang believes that the local community needs support and this is his way of providing a special occasion for people who have mobility problems and who seldom have the opportunity to get out and enjoy a restaurant occasion. Also invited were the volunteers and carers who work so hard to make life easier for those who are restricted by a range of problems.

Jean Peasley from the Wye Valley Volunteers spoke for everyone when she thanked Wing Tang and Barry for another wonderful meal. She told them that this annual occasion was a highlight of the new year for those invited. 'We are a caring community', Jean said, 'but we know that there are people who live lonely lives because they cannot leave their homes. An occasion like this enables us to make contact, make transport available and encourage them to meet others in a very sociable way. Thank you so much for making this possible.'
